How it works: A forest walk typically takes 2 hours. The walks are slow, following approximately a 1 km trail, providing time for discussions and contemplative exercises. We wrap up the walk by sharing a nature tea prepared by me. Participants should wear hiking footwear and dress for their comfort in the forest (don’t forget to check the weather forecast!) There is no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices.
The walk begins with an introduction to Forest Therapy and how it’s derived from the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku.
I’ll share a brief natural history of the area to enhance our appreciation of the forest we are about to explore.
Then I’ll provide an overview of how we’ll break down our walk and what to expect along the way. No surprises! I want you to be as comfortable as possible before we begin.
And then as we begin our journey, I’ll provide regular opportunities to gather, listen and share. No pressure. You may choose to keep your reflections to yourself.
Take time now to experience the forest. Awaken all your senses to the natural world around you. [link]
“Sue took me on the most incredible forest walk. She planned for my limited mobility so I was safe, comfortable and free of worry. That freed me up so I only needed to follow along with her to fully enjoy the experience and get the most out of the opportunity. It was the most relaxing and exhilarating experience at the same time. My senses woke up to everything around me and yet I felt an incredible sense of calm. I encourage everyone to give it a try!”

Private walk
A private walk allows you to pick a date and time that works for both of us. We can tailor the walk to the individuals that you would like to share this experience. There are so many forests in the area to explore.
Fee of $100 is the minimum charged. If you have more than 4 in your group, an additional $25/person will be added, with a maximum of 12 participants.
